North Ayrshire Council has announced a public consultation on proposals to develop the landside facilities at Ardrossan Harbour.
The Council is working with a group of project partners - Transport Scotland, CMAL, Peel Ports Group, CalMac and the Arran Ferry Committee - to complete a comprehensive upgrade and redevelopment of the Ardrossan Ferry Terminal.
The draft plans focus on the new terminal building, Passenger Access System and parking and marshalling facilities and members of the public are invited to view and comment on the proposals on Wednesday, April 13, from 12noon until 7pm at Ormidale Sports Pavilion, Shore Road, Brodick.
This engagement event is being held following the cancellation of the original event earlier this month.
A separate consultation will be progressed separately on interim service arrangements for the temporary operation of the service from Troon once the Glen Sannox vessel comes into operation.
The deadline for the online consultation has been extended and the proposals will be available to view until Friday, April 15, at northayrshire.community/consultationsevents/consultations/
Any views submitted during the consultation will then be considered before tender documents are published. A timetable for the implementation is not yet available.
The aim of the proposals it to improve the facilities and operations at Ardrossan to meet the additional capacity provided by the MV Glen Sannox.
The main landside works under discussion in the consultation include:
• Development of a modern-two-storey Terminal Building replacing the existing terminal
• A new Passenger Access System (PAS)
• Upgrading of both the marshalling and car park areas
Those unable to view the plans online can see hard copies of the draft proposals which are available in Brodick and Ardrossan libraries.
