McGill has been appointed to carry out a full reinstatement of a family home near Glamis, which was unfortunately ravaged by fire.
The home, which was badly damaged in the blaze, will be stripped back to the bare shell, and have major repairs carried out as well as a complete clean down before the refurbishment work can begin.
The Dundee-based main contractor will oversee a reinstatement of the property's roof, including new trusses and using reclaimed slate to support the company's sustainability policy, and rebuilding of stone walls on the property. Once the roof is reinstated, McGill's expert Mechanical and Electrical teams will move in to install a complete new electrical system as well as a new heating system, and the Joinery Division will install doors, windows, and facings. McGill will also lay new flooring and decorate throughout the property.
With experience in the insurance and restoration sector, McGill is known for its all-trades offering, quality finishing, and use of sustainable materials and processes wherever possible. The organisation, which broadened its scope of services when it acquired facilities management specialist the McDougall Group, and heating services company Kingdom Gas last year, also completed a large-scale refurbishment of St Andrews Hamilton Grand apartments in 2021.
Speaking of the contract award, Chief Executive Officer Errol Lawrie commented, "McGill offers an end-to-end services as we have all trades in-house, which is unique in this area. That, combined with our decades of expertise and our commitment to quality, made us the perfect choice to restore this property, which suffered such extensive damage in the fire. I'm sure this has been a tremendously difficult period for everyone involved, and all of our teams will work together to bring this family home back to life."
