BEAR Scotland has announced a programme of landscape improvement works, set to begin on Monday 16 May, as part of the ongoing works to reconstruct the footways adjacent to the westbound A90 Kingsway between Old Glamis Roundabout and Strathmartine Roundabout.
The overnight works will involve teams removing some trees in the area to ensure that when the footway is completed, it functions safely for pedestrians.
The landscape improvements will begin on Monday 16 May and are scheduled to take place across five nights between 7.30pm and 6.30am with noisy works ceasing at 11pm each night.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the westbound carriageway between Old Glamis Roundabout and Strathmartine Roundabout will be closed during working hours on Monday 16 May. Traffic will be diverted via Old Glamis Road, Clepington Road and Strathmartine Road to Strathmartine Roundabout. For the remainder of the landscaping works, a nearside lane closure on the westbound carriageway will be in place between Old Glamis and Strathmartine overnight. All traffic management will be removed during the daytime.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: "These landscaping works form part of the programme of works required to complete the ongoing footway improvements being carried out the A90 Kingsway in Dundee.
"The traffic management planned is essential for ensuring the safety of our workforce as well as road users. The overnight closure on Monday 16 May is required to allow teams to remove the necessary trees safely, however we’ve programmed for the works to take place overnight. We recognise that these works are close to a residential area and have arranged for all noisy operations to be completed before 11pm to minimise disruption.
"The removal of a small number of trees is required as the pavement reconstruction works will impact on the root systems and potentially destabilise the trees.
"We thank the residents of the area and motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these works on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination."
