Demolition Work Begins On Lochside Leisure Centre

Construction News Image
Angus Council has announced that work to demolish Lochside Leisure Centre in Forfar will get underway today, Monday 17 October.

Traffic restrictions are in place for the duration of the work and access to the area is restricted. Signs are in place in the area to advise of these necessary changes.

A temporary site compound means that three of the four car parks around the leisure centre are closed to ensure public safety. Only the Rangers Centre car park will remain open.

The playpark will also be closed for the duration of this project, with signs in place to advise of this and provide details of alternative play parks at Graham Crescent, Steele Park and Victoria Street, in Forfar.

Signs in the area also advise of restrictions to the one-way access road. The caravan park entrance provides access as far as the Ranger Centre and two-way traffic on this road will be necessary for both access and exit. The road passing the tennis courts will be closed to all vehicles except site traffic. Power for lighting at the skate park has been fed from the leisure centre and so will be off until connection to improved path lighting in the area is installed.

It is anticipated that the playpark and parking will open again in early February 2023, with landscaping of the cleared area being carried out in the spring.

Angus Council thanks Forfar residents in advance for their patience and consideration while this work is carried out.
