SSE Renewables has announced a Meet the Buyer event in Aviemore on November 30 for businesses who would like to find out more about contract and tender opportunities in Hydro operations.
Attendees will learn about supply chain openings at SSE Renewables' Hydro operations across Scotland and how firms of all sizes can take part in the tendering process.
Senior managers from SSE Renewables will attend the day-long event, at the MacDonald Aviemore Resort, together with representatives from main contractors; Voith, Andritz and GE Hydro.
There will be a chance to book one-to-one sessions with representatives from each of these organisations to discuss the supply chain process.
SSE Renewables' Hydro portfolio totals 1,459MW, including 300MW of pumped storage and 750MW of flexible hydro. The business operates 79 power stations across Scotland, incorporating 94 large dams and 77 reservoirs to store water.
A wide range of supply chain opportunities exist. This includes supporting ongoing operations and maintenance of SSE Renewables' hydro asset fleet and also working on refurbishment and replanting projects.
Typical disciplines include civils, mechanical, electrical, and C&I, delivering tasks as diverse as diving works, grounds maintenance, corrosion protection painting, catchment improvements, tunnel repairs, mechanical gate and valve refurbishments, to whole station overhauls
Neil Lannen, Head of Hydro Programmes, for SSE Renewables, said: "Hydro is a vitally important part of SSE Renewables' operations and plays a key role in our long-term growth strategy.
"Together with our main contract partners – Voith, Andritz and GE Hydro – SSE Renewables has built positive working relationships with businesses large and small across Scotland, and in the Highlands in particular.
"This event is a chance to strengthen these relationships and make new introductions. We look forward to welcoming delegates to this event on 30 November."
The SSE Renewables Hydro Meet the Buyer Event takes place on Wednesday 30 November at the MacDonald Aviemore Resort. Reception begins at 9.45am for a 10am start. Attendance is free to successful applicants and lunch is included.
Applications to attend can be submitted by email to HydroMTB@sse.com and should include the business name and a contact telephone number. Applicants should also indicate whether they would like to book a one-to-one session with SSE Renewables, Voith, Andritz and/or GE Hydro.
