Persimmon Homes has submitted plans to develop over 220 energy-efficient homes at a site in Broich Road, Crieff, north Scotland.
The new housing development will deliver millions of pounds of investment in the local community and create more than 160 new jobs, if approved by Perth and Kinross Council later this year.
The application would see 222 new homes built on the site which has already received planning permission in principle. 55 of the new homes will be transferred to a housing association to help local people in housing need.
The proposals include a variety of high-quality new homes, ranging from two bedroom terraces to five bedroom detached houses. They have been specifically designed to meet the needs of the local housing market and incorporate a focus on energy efficiency and the path to net zero. The new homes will come with options for solar panels and electric car charging points to support new home owners to cut carbon and lower household bills.
New play parks and areas of open public space will be key features of the development, which will feature a new landscaped woodland path down the eastern boundary. The investment in Crieff would also see Persimmon make a £1.6 million contribution to support the local primary and secondary schools.
It is estimated that the development would create around 80 local jobs each year in the construction sector, with a further 88 in services and other local firms.
Robert Patrick, Persimmon North Scotland Land Director, said: "We're really pleased to be bringing forward exciting proposals for Crieff, which will deliver much-needed, high quality new homes, create jobs and see a significant investment made in improving the local community.
"Nearly half of our customers are first-time buyers and with the average price of our homes 16% below the average price of a new build in Scotland, we’re proud to be opening the door to home ownership for more families. We’ve also recently had our five-star status renewed by the Home Builders Federation – showing our commitment to delivering the highest standards for our customers.
"If the application is approved, we’ll continue working closely with local residents to ensure this investment leaves a positive, lasting legacy for the Crieff community."
