Bellfield Park Benefits From Upgrade

Jimmy Gray, Provost of Inverness Highland Councillor, has officially opened £120k of improvements in Bellfield Park.

The park, situated by the River Ness was originally laid out as a Victorian park in 1929 and provides a welcoming public green open space with floral displays, toilets, a shop, tennis courts, pitch and putt, a five-a-side football pitch, a toddlers play pool and a well used community bandstand.

Following public consultation with local residents, user groups and schools, £60K from the Common Good Fund and £60K from the seven Inverness ward discretionary funds has been used to update the park.

There is now play equipment for toddlers and junior children as well as additional seating and picnic tables, a new BBQ area, extra litter bins, an improved junior play area with a large chute and a climbing wall complex.

In addition there is a new area with outdoor fitness equipment suitable for children and adults plus a set of 7 a-side goal posts within the tennis court area.

Provost Gray said: "Bellfield Park is a great asset to Inverness and I am delighted that the new equipment and upgrade has given it an eagerly-awaited facelift.

"I would like to thank everyone who took part in the public consultation. This park is for people of all ages and interests to enjoy and their input was a great help when choosing the new equipment. I am sure the park will continue to be a popular place to relax and spend leisure time in especially over the summer months."
